Are you tired of all the cardboard boxes lying around your home taking up space? Then, why not put them to use for something fun? One of the most common items in DIY projects is cardboard and you can find it all around you. If you have no idea what to do with your cardboard, then fret not! We’re here to give you some ideas!
Guitar Stand
Calling all audiophiles! There’s nothing better than relaxing at home and strumming on your guitar but what happens if your guitar stand breaks and you just haven’t gotten around to fixing it, or perhaps you simply don’t have one at all? Grab that cardboard box that’s lying in the corner of the room and get working!

Not only is this DIY project a fast and cheap solution, but it’ll also make use of what you already have lying around the house. Plus, it’s never a bad thing to channel your creative juices!
Shoe Rack
No one likes the sight of a messy closet; your shoes are thrown everywhere and there’s absolutely no order. Luckily, we have just the thing to help you declutter your shoes, so you’ll be able to dedicate your whole closet to just your clothing. If you’re living in a college dorm, then this trick will help you conserve a lot of space within what’s already a pretty tiny space.

Fold multiple pieces of cardboard into individual triangles and glue. Then, take those individual triangles and create a pyramid structure, glue it all together, and voilà — your shoe rack is all ready for use. You can even add an extra piece of cardboard on top of the structure (as shown in the picture) for an extra platform to place your shoes!
DIY Skeeball
If you need a creative way to distract the little gremlins that you running around the house, then this DIY skeeball “machine” is just the thing to keep them busy — whether you want to enjoy an early afternoon nap, or get some work done.

This requires very little material. Really, all you need is some cardboard, glue, and a few plastic balls. A plain skeeball can be quite boring so you may want to paint over it with some unique designs to make it eye-catching and unique.
Cardboard Guitar
We may have covered how to create a cardboard guitar stand but we bet you guys weren’t expecting to learn how to make a cardboard guitar. Just grab some cardboard and make some cutouts until you get the right shape. Then, glue the body together and add the “strings” along with the “bridge.”

We advise using rubber bands as strings but forewarning — the bands sting like a bee if they suddenly snap, so be careful. This is the perfect cardboard instrument for children to use while jamming out with their parents.
Magazine File
A coffee table strewn with piles of magazines isn’t necessarily ideal, especially because you don’t want others to view you as unorganized. Luckily, you can create a magazine holder with just a few materials. All you need is some smooth cardboard, some glue, and a cutter to make all the right shapes.

Let it sit out overnight to dry before placing and organizing the magazines in it. Now, you have a tidy table and a place for your magazines!

Here’s what you need — a cardboard box, scissors or a knife, glue, labels, and contact paper for design. That is really all you need to create a storage box for your belongings!

You can make multiple if you want to keep things particularly organized. Just make sure you label each of the boxes, as shown in the photo!

Hanging File Boxes
For these hanging file boxes, you’ll need two cardboard crates per one hanging file box, spray adhesive, spray paint in a color of your choosing, black masking tape, decorative paper, and ribbon

You want one to be able to fit inside the other so that it sticks out at an angle; the bottoms should fit together perfectly. Then, pull the inside box out at an angle; the part where the boxes no longer overlap is where you are going to cut the front (inside) box. Then, spray paint both pieces and let dry. Reassemble the hanging file and hold the sides in place with an extra piece of tape. Now, tape all the cut edges with black masking tape. Finally, decorate and add the hanging ribbon.

Lighting Fixture
Colorful lighting and unique fixtures are pretty popular at the moment, so why not create your own lighting fixture from some scraps that you have lying around? All you need for this task is some cardboard, glue, and a cutter.

After the fixture has been made, add some designs or cover it with colorful craft paper to get the look you’re going for. You can hang these from the ceiling or use them as lampshades to make your room décor pop.

The legs will help to provide a sturdy enough surface for any lighter objects, including that glass of water you usually have to get up from bed for.
Drawer Dividers
Drawers can get messy over time. Moreover, searching for your keys in a random pile can be time-consuming. To save you from these hurdles, why not create some cardboard dividers? They’ll help you keep everything organized because who likes it when you lose something the moment you need it?

No one. These dividers will separate everything into smaller sections saving you time when looking for something in a rush.

This cardboard organizer is a lifesaver for any aspiring artist who always ends up covered in paint and construction paper. People who love art don’t mind getting a little dirty but no one likes a cluttered workstation.

A scrapbook organizer will help you to separate your construction and craft papers so that you always know where you can find what you need.
Viking Helmet
Some things just scream “cool” — and warrior, or Viking, helmets are one of those things. These helmets might seem a bit difficult to create but the result will be a beautiful Norse helmet fit for any child or cosplay convention.

You will need cardboard, a glue gun, a ruler, a blade, and some scissors to get you started. After you are done, just put it on to transform yourself into a character from How to Train Your Dragon.

All you need is a box, some rope, and a piece of cloth. You can store all kinds of objects, and depending on the size of the rope basket, you can also turn it into a laundry basket.
Kitty Camper
This one is for all the cat dads and moms out there. It may turn out that the money you have dished out on cat toys has gone to waste because your cats just don’t like them.

Cats do love small spaces so you may be in luck if you have a cardboard box at home. Turn a plain cardboard box into a colorful camper and place some warm blankets inside to give your cats the best treat ever.

Faux Metal Letters
Everyone uses normal letters for decorations but it gets boring to see them all the time so why not try something new? These faux “metal” letters look better and are more exciting in design.

Plus, you can be sure that no one else will have the exact same creation considering that you made it yourself. These also make for great wall décor and are easy to move around if you choose to do so.

If you have a cat, or multiple cats, of your own, then you know how tough it is to keep them from scratching at the furniture. That’s why a cat scratching post is a must for your four-legged pals.

Still, they can be a bit expensive so why not make one by yourself? Just cut out pieces of cardboard and place them next to each other in a cardboard lid.

If you are a recycling maniac and have a lot of cardboard lying around, then you should try upcycling it all to make a decoupage tray. Make some hexagonal cutouts and create the borders with glue so that you have a strong base.

Then, take whatever designs you want — whether they be from a magazine, comic book, or a poster — and begin gluing the cutouts. Let dry and that’s it! Now, you have something new for your home.
DIY Bookends
These bookends go well with a bedside table in case you want to catch up on some nighttime reading. The full view can be enjoyed through a cardboard frame that has been hollowed out on one side to act as a sort of screen. You will need a cutter and some paint to complete this task.
Thread Organizer
When you have so many rolls of threads together in a pile, they may get all bunched up, making it a pain to fix.

A thread organizer will keep some space between the rolls so that when the container is moved around, its contents don’t go bouncing around. This requires only a small cardboard platform.
Box Slide
This is the simplest DIY that you can do and your kids are sure to love it — because who doesn’t love sliding around? Even adults can have some fun!

Just grab a gigantic cardboard box, preferably a fridge box, and cut it into a long shape which is to be placed on the stairs. This requires only a cutter or scissors and then place a smaller box on the slide that your children can ride in.
Cardboard Box Ramp
Hot Wheels have made up many childhood memories but as they are expensive, not many have been able to experience it properly. Now that people have gotten smarter with DIY crafts, you can also make your hot wheels track from cardboard cutouts.

For for the launcher, you can use a simple rubber band to get the cars speeding across. This will save you a lot of money and your kids can have just as much fun.

Lanterns are great for setting the mood, whether it be a romantic dinner or a peaceful night of relaxation at home. They emit a low light that relaxes our minds and helps us fall asleep more quickly.

If you have any small rectangular boxes laying around, then cut some shapes out and cover the openings with some colored tissue paper. You can then place this box over any light source to create a DIY lantern.
Floral Wagon
Want your garden to give off a magical Disney vibe? Then, why not make a wagon out of cardboard for your backyard? The number of plants that can fit will be determined by the size of the box so make sure you grab a large one.

Then, use a cutter to create some handles and wheels before attaching them with some hot glue. You may attach some wooden bars at the bottom for stability.
Cardboard Projector
Smartphones are too tiny to watch lengthy movies and real projectors charge too much so here’s how to make your own. You need an electrical tale, a magnifying glass, a shoebox, and a paperclip.

Cut a hole for the power cord and now you have a movie projector without feeling like you broke the bank. After everything has been put together, you just need to figure out the best placement for your projector.
Cardboard Shelving Unit
If you don’t want to get rid of certain things for some personal reason but you need to make space for it all, then this hack is for you. A cardboard shelving unit is easy to make and all you have to do is to cut a long platform that is sturdy enough to hold what you need it to.

To make it stick to the wall, you can use some sort of adhesive. Finally, for some finishing touches, cover the cardboard with some decoupaged fabrics.
Photo Box
If you are a photographer, then you will surely love this hack. Take an empty box and cover it in white fabric to create a background for your pictures.

These work well for small objects, and you can even attach a spotlight at the top of the box for lighting. With this hack, you don’t have to leave home to take perfect pictures when you have a DIY mini studio.
Suncatcher
A suncatcher, or light catcher, is a small reflective and refractive ornament. You can make your own using a cardboard box, transparent contact paper, flowers/leaves/ferns, scissors, and packaging tape.

Aside from the fact that it’s a fun DIY project for kids and adults alike, it can also make a wonderful gift for a loved one!
Cardboard Tree
If you are conscious about the environment but also don’t want to get a plastic tree for Christmas, then why not make your own cardboard tree that is easy to recycle and reuse? You can also cut cardboard into different trees as decor for your kid’s room.

This will make them feel like they are in their very own fairytale. You’ll only need an x-acto knife, glue, and some paint to create this festive Christmas decoration!

45+ Life-Changing Home Hacks Using Things You Probably Already Own
Broom Molding Cleaner
The molding is to the ceiling what your baseboards are to the floor. They are usually so high up that cleaning them would require a ladder and more work than you care to do. But if you just take a broom and tie a rag around it, then you have the ability to clean those high spaces without all that.

Your mileage may vary depending on the sturdiness of your broom and the type of cleaning agent you use on your rag, but ultimately, this is a good way to give the molding a quick clean when you don’t want to climb up there for the really intensive stuff.
Organizing the Refrigerator
A disorganized refrigerator is a pain for anyone. When we’re hungry, we don’t want to spend time rifling through the fridge to find things. But if you have some plastic drawers at home, then those can save the day. Just insert them right into your fridge.

By doing something so simple, you can make it much easier to store a pretty large variety of snacks and treats. At any rate, it’ll save you a lot of space, even if the addition of a big box of drawers doesn’t make it seem as such right away.
Create Your Own Sprinkle Jars
Baking soda, glitter, sugar, salt, you name it: all can benefit from a jar that lets you sprinkle them in moderation. Making your own such jar isn’t all that difficult, either. All you need is a canning jar and one of those lids from a parmesan container.

Granted, you could also just reuse your parmesan containers after you wash them out well enough that they don’t smell like cheese anymore. Either way, it’s a great choice if you want the ability to sprinkle things in moderation, whatever those things may be.
Baby Health
If you keep a pacifier for your baby in the same bag as the diapers (dirty or otherwise) you may feel a little uncomfortable with the thought of cleanliness, or lack thereof. In order to remedy this, the best thing to do is simply have a small plastic container to put the pacifier in.

Needless to say, most everyone has a small plastic container in their house somewhere, so this is one of those hacks that is very easy to achieve if you just check your kitchen storage. And really, that’s a small price to pay for child safety, right?
Candle Lit Dinner
Do you have a number of candles with wicks too low to easily reach with a match or a lighter? There’s another way to go to town. All you need is some dry spaghetti, straight out of the box. It actually burns quite easily, which makes it useful as a really long match.

You can use this to reach those wicks that are far down at the bottom of the candle jar if need be. And unless you really don’t like pasta, then you probably have spaghetti around in your house. If not, you’ll probably get some at some point anyway.
Create Your Own Armband
Need an armband? Have a sock with holes in it? Cut the toes off of that bad boy and suddenly you have a useful armband ready to go. You can use it to hold a phone, or just to wear as a fashion statement, or whatever else you might need something like that for.

One way or another, it’s a much better thing to do than simply throw away such a sock, since doing that wouldn’t benefit you at all. Might as well use hacks like this one to make the most of your possessions, right? We certainly think so.
Creating Counter Space
If you need more counter space, the best thing to do is get stuff off of your counter. But if there’s nowhere else to put them, what do you do? The best thing you can do is create space in the air. To do this, you would attach hooks to the bottom of your cabinets.

By doing this, you can hang a number of things from the cabinets above the countertops, which makes for a lot more available room on those countertops. Easy hacks like these are one of the best ways to clean up your kitchen and make more room.
Low Cost Privacy
If you wish to obstruct someone looking into your window but not sacrifice any light to do that, consider this hack. With just a handful of common ingredients that you probably have lying around your home, you can create a semi-transparent covering for your windows.

All it takes is a cornstarch and water mixture, which you apply over either white paper or even lace. Once it dries, you’ll have a semi-transparent covering that lets light in, even though you can’t see through it. Just hang it over your windows.
Hiding a Flush Mount
If you don’t like flush-mounted ceiling lights, there’s actually a pretty easy way to take care of the problem that relies on little more than a lampshade. You probably have one of those around your house, though you may have to strip a lamp to get one.

The idea is to let light through while hiding the ugly fixture. A lampshade is something you could use, but you could also use cloth or lace, plastic baskets, a sheer umbrella or many other items. Experiment with things you have around the house!
Fixing a Loose Battery Coil
Have you ever had a remote with a loose or messed up battery coil? Trying to power the thing becomes a serious hassle when the battery itself won’t fit properly. Thankfully, there’s a way to fix this without using anything outside of your home.

All you need is aluminum foil. Aluminum is a conductor of electricity, and a tiny piece of it between the battery and the loose coil will solve the problem. You could technically do this to use small batteries not intended for use with a product, but we don’t recommend that.
Broom Scrubbing
Do you wish there were more hacks out there that tackle the issue of scrubbing a bathtub? Believe it or not, a broom is good enough for the job. If you have a clean one, you can pour some water and dish soap in your bathtub and just start scrubbing away.

It’s not only very effective, but it also ensures that you don’t have to bend over all that much to get the cleaning done, so it’s better for your body as well. This hack will make the whole experience less grueling and frustrating.
Make It Rain
While it’s nice to keep one’s lawn nice and green, but buying sprinklers and other such garden tools can be pretty expensive. Rather than investing in something like that, you can make your own sprinkler with something as simple as a plastic bottle.

Punch some holes in a bottle with whatever you feel like and in any pattern you want. Then you just have to tightly tape the bottle to the neck of your water hose (preferably with the waterproof variety!). As long as you secure it properly, you’ll have your own running sprinkler whenever you turn the water on.
Make Your Own Drawer Dividers
Most everyone orders packages these days, and those packages come in cardboard boxes. That cardboard can be used for many hacks people often don’t consider. For instance, you could cut up the cardboard and use the pieces to make your own dividers.

You could use these in drawers to help organize your clothes, accessories, or just about anything else. There are lots of things you can do with cardboard that people just ignore or simply don’t think about. Try to get creative with it!
Lemon Juice Rust Removal
If your knives are getting a bit rusty, all you really need to get rid of the rust is to soak them in some lemon juice, which is a pretty common household product. Just let them sit in the liquid overnight and you’ll find that the rust wipes right off the following day.

Of course, you can do this with just about any silverware while you’re at it. No need to settle for just your knives. Lemon juice is a pretty powerful cleaning agent if you know how to use it or what to use it with. Keep that in mind!
Utensil Security
Have you suffered from a ladle or spatula falling into a pot when you really didn’t want it to? Sure, most of us have. But with a simple hack that merely uses a clothespin, you can stop that from happening. Just tack it onto your utensil and let it rest against the pot.

This will efficiently and quite easily keep the utensil from falling into the pot, which saves you a lot of trouble at very little expense. Needless to say, hacks that don’t require a lot of time or effort are some of our favorite ones.
Ultimate Guac Bowl
So you want to serve some chips at a gathering, and that means you need dip. But what’s the best way to provide that dip? If it’s on the plate itself, you’re wasting space that could be used for more chips. This is where the martini glass comes in.

By using a martini glass, you can still present a respectable amount of dip, but at the same time, it doesn’t take up as much space on the plate, which means there’s more room for chips. This is one of those hacks that helps you get the best of both worlds.
Quick and Easy
Cleaning the blinds for your windows can be a drag, but there are hacks available to make this task less of a pain. All you need is a sock. Wear it like a sock puppet and you can easily dust both the top and the bottom of the blinds with ease.

Sure, this means you’ll get a sock dusty, but that’s nothing a quick wash can’t fix. That being said, this falls into the category of hacks that are quick, easy, and pretty efficient. Naturally, that makes it one of our favorite hacks out there.
Label Your Switches
If you have more switches in your rooms than you can keep track of, you probably find yourself fumbling for which one does what every single time you use them. Hacks for this kind of problem are actually pretty simple: just label the darn things!

Whether that’s with marker, color coding, or something else entirely, you may as well label your switches if there are enough of them to confuse you. Everyone has something they could use to achieve this, so it’s a great hack in our book.
Instant Blending Clean
If you need to clean a blender, there’s always the unpleasant notion of putting your fingers down near the blades. However, you could just use the blender to clean itself. Put hot water and soap in the blender and just let it rip. Unless you’ve got really stubborn gunk, it’ll do the job.

At the least, it’ll make it much easier to clean the blender after the spin cycle is done. Whatever you have left to get rid of will come off much more easily at the very least. And of course, you don’t need to get anything you don’t already have to do this.
Filling a Vase
Filling a vase with something or one reason or another? Well, by the basic laws of physics, if there’s less space to fill, then you won’t need as much filler. To make that happen, simply put a solid object inside the vase first. A wine bottle is a pretty common and ideal choice.

Doesn’t really matter what you want to fill the vase with, and it also doesn’t make much of a difference what object you want to put in the vase. That makes these kinds of hacks even better, because they are extremely versatile.
Efficient Toothbrush Storage
Looking for somewhere to put your toothbrushes where they can’t be seen by anyone? Well, it may require a bit of modification to your cabinets, but it is perfectly possible to do this: you can cut little notches into your cabinets to hold your toothbrushes out of sight.

This is quick and easy to do it you have the right tools at home, and the right tools are pretty varied. You could use power tools, hand tools, just about anything to achieve this, and chances are, you have some of those tools available to you in your home.
Better Than Nothing
Remember when we mentioned the potential value of clips? You can use it for more than just keeping your utensils out of pots. You can also use them to stop yourself from whacking your thumb when hammering in nails, perhaps for those pictures we mentioned earlier.

On the other hand, you could use something a little sturdier, such as pliers. Either object will work reasonably well as far as keeping you safe from a painful whack to the thumb is concerned. And at any rate, it’s a whole lot better than nothing.
Tape Jar Opening
Everyone has duct tape in their house: or at least, they most certainly should. Assuming you do, you can actually use that duct tape to open stuck jars and the like. All it requires is a little bit of knowledge on how to do the technique, which we’ll share.

Wrap the duct tape around the lid and fold it so it is stuck to the side and the top of the lid. Then pull at a 90° angle or so. We won’t proclaim that this works on literally any lid, but for some of the tough ones you just can’t get open, it’s worth a try.
Ceiling Fan Cleaning
When you dust a ceiling fan, most of that dust just falls right back into the air, which doesn’t do a whole lot of good for anyone. In order to solve this problem, you can use a pillowcase. With this pillowcase, you can dust the ceiling fans, and the dust will fall into it instead of into the air.

Of course, you’ll have a dirty pillowcase that needs washing, but you can throw that in the washing machine and call it a day. It’s a much better alternative to getting a bunch of dust in the air, which negates the point of dusting in the first place.
Use Blow Dryers for Crayons on Walls
We all know that Crayons on walls are really hard to clean. Parents of young children, especially. Cleaning them may be a pain, but there are many hacks out there that can save the day. This one only requires a blow dryer, though there’s not much to actually talk about.

Using a blow dryer to heat up the wax on the wall will make it much easier to wipe it off. In fact, all you would need to do at that point is wipe the warm crayon wax away with a wet and soapy washcloth. The only downside is that it might get a little warm.
Smooth in the Shower
Shower curtain hooks can often catch on shower curtain rods. It’s not a huge deal, but it is pretty annoying nevertheless. That said, there’s a pretty easy solution: just rub down that rod with some wax paper, which is something you probably have at home.

This will make the curtain hooks slide much more easily on the curtain rod, which will solve the problem quite readily for you. It’s quick and easy to do, and can be taken care of with just one sheet. That’s why it’s one of our favorite hacks.
Rejuvenate Sponges
When a sponge gets crusty and tough, you may be inclined to throw it out. We don’t blame you, since a sponge in such a shape does seem like something that wouldn’t be ideal for cleaning. But you don’t have to just throw them away when a sponge gets like this.

Just throw them in the dishwasher for a cycle. This will breathe some new life into your sponge and mostly reverse that crusty and stale state of being, making them perfectly viable for use for an extended amount of time. Sponges aren’t expensive, but why waste money at all?
Old Faithful
This hack is one most everyone is aware of: they say if your phone gets wet, you should bury it in a bag of rice overnight. Thing is, this hack is worth mentioning because, as silly as it sounds, it does actually work sometimes. That’s not to say that it is guaranteed to, but there are many examples of rice successfully saving water-soaked phones.

So if your phone suffers from such a fate, you should at least give it a try before throwing it away or taking it to a repair shop. After all, phones and phone repairs are extremely expensive!
Hanging Fridge Space
Creating space in your refrigerator isn’t particularly easy. However, with some easy hacks, you can change that. If you have wire shelves in your refrigerator or freezer, you can use those little clips most people have to hang products from those shelves and create more space overall.

As you can see in this picture, it’s very easy to achieve if you just have some of those clips, which are common and easy to get. This can also help keep some food items fresh, though the main benefit at hand is most certainly the extra space.
Pest Elimination
Do you have a lint roller? If not, it’s pretty cheap, and there’s something you could use it for other than lint. You can actually use it to dispose of bugs and nasty critters like scorpions. Think about it: you can squish the pest without touching them, the sticky part picks them up.

Then you can just tear that part off and get rid of it however you want to. It’s a pretty solid way to get rid of things you would really rather not get that close to. And we imagine that a whole lot of people fall into that category.
Keep Makeup Brush Shape
If you have makeup brushes, chances are you have elastic hair ties. And if you do have elastic hair ties, you can make use of this hack. Loop your elastic hair ties around a towel bar, and you can secure your wet makeup brushes to it for air drying.

By air drying, you avoid using a cloth, and more importantly, avoid deforming the shape of your favorite brushes. And if you don’t have any hair ties for some reason, they are super cheap to get, so this is still one of those great nifty hacks.
Grocery Bag Storage
People tend to come home with a large number of plastic bags when they go grocery shopping. However, you don’t actually need to throw them away or just stuff them in a corner somewhere. There are other alternatives: namely, you could store them all in a tissue box!

This way, you can keep the bags for future use, but you also manage to keep all of them in a confined space so they don’t take up much room. It’s a great way to reuse something that you may otherwise have thrown away, and that is always a nice thing for hacks to facilitate.
Cutting the Cheese
Aesthetically speaking, it’s very hard to cut cheese and cake perfectly every single time. This isn’t a huge deal if you’re just going to eat it, but if you are going to be serving other people… well, then you may want to do it right every single time.

In that case, just use floss. Wrap a string of it around the food item in question, lining it up where you want to cut, then just pull both ends away from one another. The floss will slice through the food as it constricts, giving you a very clean cut.
Zip Tie Storage
If you have lots of brooms and mops and they are constantly falling all over the place, some hooks and some zip ties will save the day. Just put the zip ties around the hole in the handle, and you’ll be able to hang these tools from just about anywhere.

Now, some people may not have zip ties lying around at any moment, but it’s pretty easy to stock up on them as needed, and once that’s done, you can easily make use of this hack and many other hacks that are like it. Experiment with zip ties, they’re useful!
Storing the Nails
If you are a workshop type of person with lots of screws, bolts, or whatever else, it can be tough keeping all of those little bits and pieces organized. But if you are also someone who chews a lot of gum, you may have an easy solution available.

Those large gum containers you’ve seen at stores are actually pretty nifty for the storage of small items. So instead of throwing them away, consider using them to address organization issues with small objects and items around your house.
Use TP Rolls for Cords
The hassle of cords getting twisted up is something we’re all familiar with. But there are some hacks you can make use of using items you have readily available at your house: in this case, toilet paper rolls. You can use them to store cord bundles rather easily.

Remember, things that look like trash don’t actually have to be trash if you just know what to do with them. Creativity is what makes hacks out of ordinary objects and tools that were meant for something else entirely. Consider that.
Make Your Own Cleaning Rags
If you have old T-shirts you don’t wear anymore, you could throw them away, but you could also just cut them up and make nifty cleaning rags that are washable and reusable. They could even be cool aesthetically depending on the type of shirts you cut up.

Hacks like these are really simple, but can actually be fun and useful when you do them. After all, the simplest hacks are the best, because anybody can give them a try to see if they think it’s worth doing. It’s a fun project, at the very least.
Keeping Tabs
Have you ever had trouble finding the lip of your tape on the roll? You turn it over a dozen times, trying to find the spot to peel the tape? Well, just use a paperclip and you won’t have to worry about that any longer. The next time you are done with your tape, put a paperclip on the end.

This way, the tape won’t be flush to the roll when you use it again, and you’ll easily be able to find the lip of the tape when you’re ready to use it again. It’s a small thing, but it goes a long way in keeping down frustration when using the tape.
Color Coded Keys
If you have a lot of keys, then you probably know the hassle that is going through all of them in hopes of finding the one you were looking for, whether that’s at your car or your mailbox. But it doesn’t have to be such a hassle! Using paint, nail polish, or even just colored tape, consider color-coding your keys.

Keeping track of a color code is much easier than keeping track of individual keys that all look the same with the exception of some individual markings or numbers. And the best part is, there are multiple ways to color code your keys.
Use Coffee Grounds for Clogs
If you have a clogged drain, be it the bathtub or the kitchen sink, there are many hacks out there that can help. This one uses coffee grounds. Simply mix some coffee grounds with dish soap and pour it down the drain. After that, pour some boiling water down the drain, and this will get rid of most clogs.

Of course, this does mean you would be sacrificing some coffee grounds for the sake of cleaning, but coffee grounds aren’t particularly expensive, so is it really a big deal? It’s certainly much better than keeping a clogged drain.
Tidy Up Your Desk
Desk cables often have a tendency to become tangled and messy! And that can cause you a lot of trouble when you’re looking for the cable you need. Luckily, binder clips can come in handy here.

As you can see in the picture, all you have to do is attach a few in a row at the edge of your desk; one clip for one cable. The clips will tightly hold your cables whilst keeping them organized. How nifty!
Protect Your Cables
Cables are highly useful, but they can also cause headaches at times! They tend to break or wear out after a few years of regular use. We all own a few broken and worn-out cables, which we try to work with because laptop and smartphone charging cables don’t come cheap.

There’s an easy solution for this. Use the spring from an old pen as a cable protectant. Like this picture, use the spring to keep your charger from bending and eventually breaking.
Vacuum-Cleaning Electronics
Vacuums are highly efficient. Ever wonder, if you could clean your electronics with it the way you do your room? Cleaning spray obviously is useful to clean the screen or broader surfaces, but it can’t wipe out long-accumulated dust from charging ports, phone microphones, or computer keyboards.

Use a cool life hack here. You will just need your vacuum cleaner and a top from a squeezy ketchup bottle. Attach the top to the vacuum pump, as shown in this picture. The vacuum will suck out all the dirt and dust from the nooks of your devices.
Charging Port
Charging your phone can be a hassle if the outlet is too high, and the cable is too short — because, unless you have a surface to set it on, your phone will just hang there. This can, in turn, damage the cable or plug itself.

Instead of resorting to this option, grab an empty plastic bottle and a pair of scissors. Cut the bottle into a pocket of sorts, which you can then use to store your phone while it charges. Not too shabby, eh?
Hit the Showers
As nice as it is to use a sponge or loofah in the shower, there’s no denying that these products sit and inevitably become a breeding ground for bacteria — that is, unless you hang them up.

There are plenty of ways to do this, but one of the easiest is to install a secondary tension rod in your shower. From there, you can attach any product you want using the rings with clips that are normally used for an ordinary shower curtain.
Organizing Long Wires
Keeping your earphones neat and organized is essential, especially when you’re on the go. Headphones can wear out quickly and the long wire makes it almost impossible to keep them untangled when you’re not using them.

Use this daily life hack as an easy solution. Just fold the wire of your earphones, and keep it together using a hair clip. Just be careful not to cut the wire with the clip.
Keep Your Garden Green
Anyone that has tried their hand at gardening or landscaping knows that sprinklers and other fancy gadgets of the sort don’t always come cheap. So, what to do when you want to tend to your flowers and plants, but can’t afford to break the bank?

Reach into that recycling bin of yours and grab a big, plastic bottle. This bottle can easily be converted into a fully functional sprinkler, just by punching some holes into it and taping it onto your hose.
Safety First!
There’s no denying that being a homeowner comes with a hefty list of responsibilities. As nice as it is to have something to call your own, there’s still plenty of upkeep to be done around the house. During autumn, for example, brightly colored foliage slowly drops from trees and shrubs.

Many people then use a lawn blower to clean up the mess, but what happens if these leaves end up in your gutter as well? Simple — just attach PVC pipe to your lawn blower to clean out the gutter with your feet firmly planted on the ground.
No-Slip Hangers
There’s very little worse than hanging up an article of clothing, only for it to then slip off the hanger — and you have to start the process all over again. We can totally relate. But, what to do if you have a bunch of these plastic hangers that you don’t want to just chuck in the trash?

You could make them anti-slip hangers. How, you ask? Simply take a couple of pipe cleaners and wrap one on each side. The pipe cleaners provide a grip on these otherwise slippery hangers!
Anything Is Popsicle
Who doesn’t enjoy an icy popsicle on a hot summer’s day! Still, it’s not as enjoyable if you have to gobble it all up before the popsicle begins melting and dripping. Don’t fret, though!

Take a cupcake liner and poke the popsicle stick through it. That way, you can take your time with this icy treat, without having to worry about getting messy. The liner will catch all the drips. Your super messy kids will love the idea, too!
New & Improved
Is iced coffee your favorite go-to summer drink? And do you love the intense coffee flavor? Then, you probably don’t like adding too many ice cubes, as the coffee can become quite watered down as the ice melts.

Then, why not make frozen coffee cubes instead? Simply brew a pot of coffee, let it cool, and get pouring! Then, place the tray in the freezer until the cubes are completely frozen.
Resealing Plastic Packets
It’s a real headache to store dry food items if you run out of containers. Half-empty big plastic packets create a bigger mess. And you know, keeping the items air-tight is your first priority. So, what to do?

Keep your cool and use this simple life hack. Just cut the top of an empty plastic bottle and use it to create an instant air-tight seal. Follow the steps shown in this picture, and your problem will be solved just like that!
How Apeeling
This really useful amazing hack will save you lots of time on clean-up. Peeling a hard-boiled egg properly is often a headache, especially when you’re in a rush. Don’t worry! Just take a bowl and some ice cubes, while your egg is boiling.

Pour water into a bowl and drop the ice cubes in. After the eggs are boiled, just place them in the ice bath for about five minutes. Take them out and crack gently, creating a small opening. Start peeling from that point, and the entire shell will come off in no time!
Preventing Messy Cupcakes
Cupcakes are delicious, and baking them is a labor of love! But, it’s not fun when your kids are running around the house with their cupcake-smudged hands and face. Don’t spoil their fun! Just remember this cool hack while baking cupcakes next time.

Forget liners, and take flat-bottomed ice-cream cones instead. Bake your cakes in the cones, following the steps shown in the collage. You can put the cones in cupcake tins. The end result will be more fun, fuss-free, and perfect for any party!
Fuss-Free BBQ Party
Do you ever get worried while throwing a big BBQ party? It goes without saying that BBQ should be accompanied by a number of condiments. That, in turn, means extra dishwashing. But, don’t let this setback affect your party.

Cut yourself some slack and take a muffin tin. Pour all your condiments into the tray and place it at the center of the table for everyone to enjoy! It’s just as simple as that!
DIY Dispenser
Although many shops throughout the world have slowly been making the move over from plastic bags to paper. Still, there are plenty of stores that are keeping with the old ways and so, you end up collecting more plastic bags than you know what to do with! But, how do you organize them all?

To make these bags easy to stow, create a dispenser using a discarded two-liter soda bottle. Cut off the top and bottom with a razor knife. Trim any jagged edges before screwing the dispenser to a cabinet door or closet wall.
Dust Bunny Broom Cleaner
Most people sweep the house every day or every other day. But, every time they do, clumps of dust and hair annoyingly collect at the ends of the broom’s bristles — and it can be really hard to clean!

So, to combat this issue, simply hot glue a wide-tooth comb to the top of the dustpan (as shown in the picture). Every time you sweep dirt into the dustpan, run the bristles through the comb to remove excess gunk.
No-Mess Pancakes
Pancakes are yummy but they can be messy, too! The batter often drips everywhere, so you know you’ll have plenty of clean-up later on! Rather than accepting this as your fate every time you make the kids pancakes, perhaps consider using this simple hack to prevent any and all messes.

Pour the pancake batter into a clean and discarded plastic ketchup bottle. Then, squeeze out the desired amount straight into the pan. Making pancakes has never been easier!
Avoid the Kernels
You’re enjoying your popcorn while binging a new series on Netflix when, suddenly, you’ve just bitten down on a popcorn kernel! Ouch! It’s not a good experience, is it?

So, here’s your solution. After popping the microwave popcorn, just separate the opening of the bag a bit. Then, turn the bag upside down and shake it over a bowl. The small opening will allow the unpopped kernels to fall right out.
What’s Cookin’?
Want to cook a fancy dinner? Even so, you obviously don’t want to run around the kitchen holding a cookbook in one hand whilst measuring, adjusting, and stirring with the other! And if you leave the book on the countertop, the pages will probably get soiled.

Here’s what you can do. Grab an unused hanger from your wardrobe — the one with two clips on either side. Use the clips to hold the cookbook in place. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy!
Flip the Switch
Are your flip-flops starting to show split holes? You should probably throw them out and get a new pair. Or you could try to prolong their life at least for a little while. It’s the eco-friendly thing to do.

It’s a very simple process. Just turn your damaged flip-flop upside down and place a bread clip around the split hole. The clip will hold the band tightly in place — and it will save your day!
Shower Power
This one is based on pure and simple science! And yet we make a great deal of a fuss while cleaning our bathroom, especially when it comes to the long-neglected dirty showerhead. Save your time with this cool hack.

Pour some vinegar in a plastic bag and carefully tie it around the showerhead. Leave it there overnight. It will easily clean all the built-up residue off. Get back your sparkling clean shower head the next morning — with almost no work at all!
Marketplace
Supermarket carts are great to have when you’re loading up on a bunch of groceries. Unfortunately, you can’t wheel it back to your apartment. And if there’s no elevator, then you’re stuck lugging 50 pounds of groceries up five flights of stairs.

If you can’t possibly bear that anymore, here’s what you can do. Just clip all the bags to a big carabiner (metal loop). This will provide you with a stronger grip!
No-Drip Ice Pack
It’s quite common for an ice pack to drip all over the floor once it begins melting. But, you’re likely not in the condition to clean the water off the floors — considering that you’re sitting there with an ice pack.

Avoid this mess with a simple hack. Just put a wet sponge in a sealable bag and keep it in the freezer. A frozen saturated sponge in a bag makes an efficient ice pack that won’t drip all over when it melts.
Baby-Proof the Bed
Do you often wake up from your sleep in a panic, afraid that the baby has fallen out of bed? Well, don’t fret. There’s a simple trick to prevent your baby from falling out of bed.

Set one pool noodle on each side of the bed under a fitted sheet. It will perfectly keep your baby and your mind at peace! Now, you can ensure a good night’s sleep for both you and your baby!
Restoring Scratched Furniture
If you own wooden furniture of any sort, you have to be prepared for dings and scratches once in a while. Unfortunately, scratched wood doesn’t look good anywhere in the house. So, with that, it’s time to take matters into your own hands!

Literally! Take a piece or two of walnuts or pecans. Rub the nut on the damaged parts of your wooden furniture. It will cover up all the dings and scuffs in no time! Who says science isn’t magic?
Cleaning Hazy Headlights
Dust and pollution often leave their marks on your car, and it’s not always feasible to take your car for a professional cleaning. You can fix one or two small problems by yourself, saving some time and money along the way.

If your car headlights get hazy, don’t ignore that. Take some toothpaste on a brush and rub it all over your car headlights. Let it sit for a few minutes before wiping the lights clean with a dry cloth. We promise you’ll see the difference
Testing Battery Life
This next one is a really useful hack! If your remote isn’t working properly, it’s possible that it got damaged. Or perhaps, the batteries are dead. But, how do you make sure of that?

Just drop the batteries on a table or any flat surface, from about six inches. If they give one small bounce and fall right over, they’re good to go. But, if they bounce around more than once, it’s almost time to replace them.
Ironing a Shirt Properly
You should always be extra careful while ironing a shirt or, similar, button-down dress. The buttons make it more challenging to move the iron around, and they tend to break if dealt with heavy-handedly.

Make ironing easier with this simple hack. Just flip the shirt inside out, and you can iron over the button easily. It will perfectly flatten out the creases on the outside too. It’s time to take care of your trusty button-down pieces!
Stashing Your Cash
This is an amazing trick — perfect for a vacation or any night out. One of the most important things we need to worry about keeping track of during these wild nights is our money. But, if you’re not in the mood to take a purse or wallet, then how will you safely hold onto your money?

Just take an old emptied-out chapstick tube. Clean it properly. Now, roll up a few bills and stash the cash inside the tube. Easy, on-the-go, and helpful in emergencies.
Use Mouthwash for Cleaning Toilets
Don’t waste your time and money buying a toilet bowl cleaner if you don’t need one. And trust us, you don’t need one. You can use mouthwash to do the job. Pour some mouthwash in the toilet bowl, let it sit for about 30 minutes before scrubbing.

Nearly any grime within the toilet bowl will come off very easily after this treatment. And as you know, mouthwash is a lot cheaper than dedicated toilet cleaning agents, so you save a bunch of money with hacks like these, and those are the best kind.
Keep the Brush Clean
You don’t want to put your toothbrush directly on your counter, because that’s not entirely sanitary. But there are some easy hacks to solve it. Using a clothespin, you can elevate the actual brush part of the toothbrush from the counter, even if you have nowhere else to place it.

Clothespins actually have a great number of uses in everyday life separate from their actual design purpose. It’s all about finding creative ways to use them. Of course, the internet goes a long way in helping on that front.
Tight Fitted Sheets
If your fitted sheets are constantly coming off of your mattress, the solution may be available within your closet. If you have a pair of elastic suspenders in there, you can use them to attach the separate sides of the fitted sheet under your bed.

By doing this, you ensure that the fitted sheet will actually stay fitted, unless something happened to the suspenders themselves. Either way, this is a cheaper way to do this than investing in those official elastic connectors you could get specifically for this purpose.
Preventing Trash Leaking
No one likes to have some sort of liquid from the trash dripping on them on trash day. There is a way to avoid this though, and it just requires some paper. Paper towels, newspapers, anything will do fine. Place that paper at the bottom of a new bag before you fill it with anything else.

When you do this, any liquid that goes into the trash bag will be caught by the absorbent layer you created, and you won’t have anything nasty dripping on you when you take the trash out at some undisclosed point in the future. It’s worth some paper to make that happen.
Protect Your Walls
Do you live with someone who just can’t open doors like a normal person? Does the doorknob constantly hit your wall? A tennis ball can be a solution, as all you have to do is cut a slit into the ball and fit it over the problematic knob, creating a cushion.

Now, this won’t work with certain doorknob shapes, unless you want to get really crafty with a knife. However, this is still a valuable hack to keep in mind as you go about your life. After all, avoiding big holes in your wall is always a good thing.
