40+ Kids’ Party Entertainers Shared Bizarre Things That Happened to Them on the Job

It’s Not All Fun and Games

Working with kids is usually fun and rewarding (just ask your primary school teachers), especially if you do it as an entertainer. Your job is to come dressed up in a costume and make sure everyone’s having a good time. Sometimes, however, things might go slightly out of hand. This, of course, depends on your definition of out of hand. Read this list and find out just how much things have gone wrong for some of these kids’ party entertainers.

Time to Get Naughty

There’s no doubt that children today are, unfortunately, a lot less innocent than they were in the past. This is especially true for kids who were born in the early 2000s.

Time to Get Naughty

With virtually limitless access to everything on the web, it’s no wonder that this six-year-old boy knew what a “lap dance” was. We, of course, find it appalling. But, what’s even more problematic about this story is his parents’ reaction — laughing and taking pictures? Oh, the humanity!

Show Us Your Magic

Kids are gullible beings. They’re likely to believe anything you’ll tell them if you sound convincing enough. The problem begins when they want immediate proof.

Show Us Your Magic

While we have to admit that this entertainer had the right idea in trying to coax the child into believing that they can do magic, the mother — on the other hand — took a more realistic approach. It seems like all the magic was gone in an instant when reality came crashing down.

That’s Not What They Meant

This one is a bit awkward, but that’s how children are sometimes. It takes them time to learn to — how should we put it mildly — control themselves. Sometimes, this can lead to unfortunate and hilarious accidents.

That’s Not What They Meant

Well, what’s hilarious to some is often unpleasant to others. While we believe that children should feel as comfortable and as happy as possible, this goes slightly beyond what could be considered acceptable. We bet it also made this entertainer think twice about becoming a parent herself.

This Isn’t How the Story Goes

Kids can be disgusting sometimes. We’ve already told you about that girl who peed on her entertainer, but that was just one example. While you can’t compare one bodily fluid to another, suffice to say that it’s simply disgusting — no matter what it is.

This Isn’t How the Story Goes

Our heart goes out to this poor entertainer (who probably isn’t getting paid enough for this). But, it seems like this is just another work hazard. Maybe she should have worn a hazmat suit instead of her costume.

Awkward Moment

The only way for a performance to succeed is to ensure that your young audience is aware of the fact that you’re not really a princess or a superhero, but you do a pretty good job at pretending you are.

Awkward Moment

This naturally includes not showing who you are without the costume. In this case, however, this was over and done with. This little girl just walked in on Ariel in a very uncomfortable moment. No wonder it all ended with everyone screaming.

The End of Darth Vader

While we’re certain that Darth Vader’s fainting spell was not part of the party plan, you’ve still got to admit that it must have been pretty funny. We wonder, however, if the kids at the party got a chance to see the movie and appreciate the drama. Our guess? They didn’t.

The End of Darth Vader

It still doesn’t change the fact that the prophecy has indeed been fulfilled (just watch the movies). Looks like the Force was with the kids. Next time we recommend bringing Luke to the party, too.

Bad Clown

Sometimes, things don’t go as planned. This is especially true with kids, as they don’t normally react the same way as adults would and that’s understandable. In this case, however, the kids’ reaction was completely out of proportion.

Bad Clown

They actually resorted to violence. We feel bad for the poor guy who just tried his best to entertain them. Maybe he should have put on his scary clown face. Who knows? That might have spared him those nasty cuts and bruises.

Party’s Canceled

There’s probably nothing worse than canceling a child’s birthday party. But sometimes it happens when other kids don’t show up for some reason or because something tragic and unexpected happened that day.

Party’s Canceled

In this case, it’s unclear why the party was canceled. But, the fact remains that it’s just as sad. We admire this entertainer’s insistence, though, and we also hope that the kid enjoyed the few tricks they did for them. It’s not much, but better than nothing.

Mermaids & Deadpool Inc.

We’re in full agreement with this entertainer — little girls that like Deadpool are not something you hear about every day, mostly because they probably shouldn’t know who Deadpool is. But, we really don’t get the part about that lady who was dressed as a mermaid and just laid there throughout the entire party.

Mermaids & Deadpool Inc.

Yes, mermaids don’t have legs and so they can’t walk or be on land, but really? Have some imagination! We believe she just exploited the opportunity to make a quick buck without too much of an effort.

Bozo the Clown

Having a bald man lecturing us about Bozo the Clown sounds like a scene from a movie we wouldn’t really want to watch. It’s not that we have anything against bald, middle-aged men, but you’ve got to admit that they can be creepy sometimes — especially when they share their obsession with a certain jester.

Bozo the Clown

What really made us laugh is the mental image of this same bald guy just running for dear life… from a small fire that was put out with a shoe. We wonder how much quicker the fire would have been put out if he’d used his massive clown shoes.

Football Jocks

Football players can look and feel quite intimidating. These 6’2 or higher guys might not be the kind of people you’d hope to meet in a dark alley in the middle of the night (wait a minute, what are you even doing in a dark alley in the middle of the night?).

Football Jocks

But, if there’s one thing that most men can’t resist, it’s a woman — especially a pretty one. So, it’s no wonder that these formidable players all of a sudden turned into five-year-olds just at the sight of this lovely Jasmine actress.

License and Registration, Please

Being pulled over by a police officer isn’t a fun experience, even if you’re innocent (until proven otherwise). While we remind you that you have the right to remain silent and that anything that you say can and will be used against you in a court of law, it seems like these rules didn’t really apply in this case.

License and Registration, Please

Just imagine that when approaching a suspect’s car, you find Belle and Superman sitting next to each other. We would have laughed, too, before issuing a ticket for speeding.

Conductor Thomas

The good thing about animated characters is that they don’t need to suffer from heat, which means bad news for the humans who have to play them in costume. Wearing a mascot costume is one of the worst experiences in the entertainment industry.

Conductor Thomas

You know why? Because it just gets extremely hot in those suites. How hot? We’ve heard stories about how people almost fainted because they were wearing them for too long. No wonder this poor entertainer suffered so much in his buckets of sweat.

Believe Me, it’s Blonde!

Accidents happen, especially when you’re around kids. For some reason, those little rascals have a tendency to cause a whole lot of trouble for adults. Part of that difficulty comes from kids being surprisingly sharp-eyed.

Believe Me, It’s Blonde!

They tend to notice things quickly, sometimes even before adults even have the chance to spot them. Thankfully, adults have developed a unique ability to dodge awkward questions from kids and squirm their way out of sticky situations with clever answers — just like this Elsa.

Intruder Alert

Kids sometimes often don’t know right from wrong or are just completely unaware of the concept of boundaries, something that (most) adults are pretty familiar with. This, of course, may lead to a variety of funny accidents and situations — exactly like this princess experienced.

Intruder Alert

It seems like this sweet, little girl was a tad too curious. We’re not saying that curiosity is a bad thing, but sometimes it’s exactly why kids get into trouble. We’re glad nothing terrible happened here and it all ended well.

Missed the Point

It seems like this entertainer was in the wrong place, or maybe the parents just don’t understand the concept of inviting an entertainer to a party. What’s the point of having an entertainer if your kid is just too young to understand and enjoy any of it?

Missed the Point

Actually, this entire experience just sounds so cringey to us that, had we been in her place, we would have gotten into our canoe and rowed out of there as quickly as possible.

Was it Something We Said?

If there’s one thing we’ve learned over the years, it’s that kids are difficult clients to please. And no, we’re not saying this from experience, but we know a thing or two about children. In any case, it seems like this poor entertainer just had bad luck with this birthday boy.

Was it Something We Said?

What kid wouldn’t like to see Spiderman? Why would they just start crying like that? What’s worse, even when the entertainer took their mask off, the kid continued to cry. Maybe the kid just had a bad day.

You’ve Been Ignored

One of the things you can’t help but notice in kids is their seemingly endless energy. Unlike us, the old and tired adults who just complain about how tired and weary we are, kids just don’t do that.

You’ve Been Ignored

What’s more, they actually only need each other to have fun. This means, you — as the adult — are often redundant. No wonder this entertainer was ignored, despite her pretty costume.

Ouch!

“This will end in tears,” is an iconic phrase used by adults to warn kids of unfortunate, yet easily foreseen outcomes. This normally happens when kids are just allowed to run around uncontrollably.

Ouch!

In this case, it was more than just tears and a couple of bruises. By the way, we always knew that those Heelys were way too dangerous. Trying to combine a skateboard and a shoe is just a bad idea… unless we’re talking about rollerblades, obviously.

Watch Your Fingers

Kids need to respect authority. This is obviously something that their parents should teach them, but, looks like this time the parents failed big time. What’s worse is that it happened when one of the parents was present. Was the father deliberately trying to ignore his daughter’s dangerous attempts?

Watch Your Fingers

It’s not the entertainer’s fault that she got bitten. She was explicitly told not to stick her fingers in the cage numerous times and it just seems like she didn’t care. This, of course, could have been avoided if the father hadn’t been so careless.

The North Poll Patrol

We admire these kids. Coming up to an adult while exercising (supposedly) right judgment is something that’s quite rare among young children. The kids were so concerned about someone “stealing” Santa’s car that they thought this naughty elf was trying to do it.

The North Poll Patrol

No wonder it took the elf 20 minutes to convince the young inspectors that it was, in fact, their car. But eventually, the evil plan worked and the rogue elf was on their way to kidnap Santa.

With Great Power

Hard is the life of the entertainer. Having to go from one gig to another just to earn a few bucks, ultimately ended in this guy almost being stampeded straight into Davy Jones’ locker.

With Great Power

We’re joking, but judging by his story, it seems like he was pretty close to it. There’s nothing worse than a bunch of screaming brats demanding entertainment, especially when you’re outnumbered 40 to 1. At least he walked out of there alive, albeit tipless.

Crushing the Party

Watching your parents get hauled away by the authorities might be a traumatic experience for any child. We’re certain, however, that this was pretty traumatic for this entertainer as well. They were left standing there, in the banquet hall alone… with the little girl they were supposed to entertain.

Crushing the Party

As soon as the father was arrested, all the guests got up and left. We think they did the right thing by hanging around for a little longer. Hopefully, it made the girl feel a bit better.

Couldn’t Take it Anymore

It’s always nice when someone is hitting on you. It gives a nice boost to your ego, even if the person doing the flirting isn’t exactly Prince Charming. However, when it happens during work hours, it might be more unprofessional and uncomfortable than attractive.

Couldn’t Take it Anymore

This poor entertainer had to fend off hordes of husbands who just swore that they would leave their wives for her. Too bad the beast was nowhere to be found to protect Belle’s honor — so much for relying on men.

We Know Who You Are

At some point, kids really should know better than to think the entertainer in front of them is really their favorite character, especially when it’s an animated animal. By then, should probably know to just play along.

We Know Who You Are

Seems like the kids in this entertainer’s story were not in the mood for pretend. Instead, they decided to unmask the poor actor, with the parents doing absolutely nothing to help. We feel bad for the entertainer — it must have not been a whole lot of fun enduring this type of torture.

Wrong Address

This is something that doesn’t often happen in real life — at least it has never happened to us. Instead of picking up Elsa, she burst into the wrong house. It could have easily been a scene from a comedy movie.

Wrong Address

Just imagine having dinner when suddenly a stranger dressed as Anna bursts into your apartment. It seems that Anna got the wrong house because they all looked the same. Well, we suppose it’s pretty easy to get lost in suburbia.

Sick Mickey Mouse

Wearing a full-body character costume during the summer can be dangerous. The problem with these costumes is that they don’t let the heat escape from your body. Basically, it just means that you’re slowly being cooked from the inside.

Sick Mickey Mouse

No wonder this entertainer was sick. He was probably severely dehydrated and overheated from standing around in a sauna suit for too long. At least he walked away with a handsome tip. We’re just glad he got out of there alive!

If the Shoe Fits

First of all, who holds a birthday party for kids in a pub? We know it was an outside pub, but we still think it might set a bad example for children. Of course, that’s just our opinion. But, we’ve got to know how no one thought to clear the area of manure!

If the Shoe Fits

We’re aware of the fact that the pub was near a field, but still. It’s way below any hygienic standard to have kids around these droppings. In any case, we’re pretty certain that none of us would have wanted to find that in our shoes.

Catch Me if You Can

Kids can be mean sometimes. However, we’re not sure if they did this one out of meanness or just because they really wanted to annoy poor Peter Pan. It seems, though, that they did a pretty good job at it. One thing is certain, they caused some serious mayhem.

Catch Me if You Can

Peter Pan was forced to chase after the kid to get his hat and wig back. What’s even funnier is that one of the kids asked why “Peter Pan is bald.” Someone should have told her that even Peter Pan ultimately succumbs to old(er) age.

What’s Wrong With You

Honestly, this story is a little disturbing. What was supposed to be a fun experience turned into something really frightening. Belle was only trying to do her best in entertaining the kids, but this little guy had other ideas.

What’s Wrong With You

We honestly don’t know what’s his deal. Why would he think such a creepy song would be fun? No wonder Belle wanted to run for her life! Although, she ultimately stayed and laughed off the whole situation.

The Show Must Go On

Accidents tend to happen when you least expect them. At least that’s what good old Murphy taught us. Looks like accidents also tend to happen when you’re doing something in front of people, which makes it ten times worse.

The Show Must Go On

Thankfully, though, the day was saved by this entertainer’s assistant. The dress tore open from behind, which meant the kids were unaware of it. It seems like just a wee bit of magic (and an emergency sewing kit) solved this problem.

Off With Her Head!

It’s not always hard to play the villain. Kids normally won’t identify with the villain character and would almost always be on the side of the heroes. But, there’s a difference between not liking a character and actually taking physical actions against them.

Off With Her Head!

In this case, a line was crossed. We wonder if their parents were around. This is completely unexpected and unacceptable. On the other hand, people used to express their displeasure with a show by throwing things at the stage — though, tomatoes are a better option than gravel.

A Dramatic Entrance

This story might be too good to be true, as far as entertainment value goes. We don’t mean, of course, that we’re happy with this poor entertainer’s tragic mishap, but you’ve got to admit the entire scene sounds hilarious.

A Dramatic Entrance

We imagine them rolling down the stairs, legs and arms flailing, skirt-down-legs-up kind of a fall. This is certainly a funny way to ensure that this would be a memorable event. We’re not sure if this Elsa would be invited over again, though.

Keep Your Hands to Yourself

We’ve said it before and we’re gonna say it again. It’s all nice and flattering when someone flirts with you… unless it’s during work time. In this case, not only did this happen during work — but the entertainer was a teen at the time, which makes it so much worse.

Keep Your Hands to Yourself

When someone in their 40s (regardless of their gender) hits on someone who is a teenager, you know that there’s something seriously wrong with them. This is so not ok and shouldn’t have happened in the first place.

Crossing the Line

This isn’t the first time we hear about a story like this — an entertainer just wants to do their job but is subjected to harassment. This just makes you wonder what kind of an example this parent has set for their children.

Crossing the Line

Unfortunately, this seems to happen more often than we would like to believe. These entertainers definitely did the right thing by letting everyone know that these people absolutely sucked. No one should have to go through that.

Ambushed at the Park

Violence isn’t something that should be tolerated by anyone, no matter how big or small they are. While adults are usually pretty restrained, kids tend to be completely unaware of their own strength for some reason. Such was the case in this entertainer’s story.

Ambushed at the Park

The little brother who came along suffered a severe beating for unknown reasons. He was just in the wrong place at the wrong time, so it seems. What’s worse is that the parents stood by and didn’t intervene, setting a bad example for their children.

Justin Bieber

If you’re some random dude who’s trying to impersonate Justin Bieber, just don’t. It’s not that we have anything against Bieber, we just cringed at the thought. Obviously, the little girl knew very well that this wasn’t Mr. Bieber in the flesh.

Justin Bieber

And what’s the point of trying to sing “Baby”? It’s one thing to impersonate Bieber, and a whole other thing is to sing like him. No wonder the little girl got up and left. We would have done the same thing.

Dehydrated Dora the Explorer

Sometimes, parents just don’t realize how hard it is to be an entertainer, especially if you’re wearing a costume or makeup. Have you ever tried walking around in a mascot costume in the heat? No? We wouldn’t recommend it — it’s a surefire way to get a heatstroke.

Dehydrated Dora the Explorer

What’s worse is that the mother was completely unsupportive. Even entertainers deserve a break. We believe they made the right choice by quitting. This just isn’t worth it.

Can’t Tell the Difference

There’re a few things we could say about this story. First, “kids don’t see color” can be interpreted in two different ways. Since we strongly believe in equality, we think that what they actually meant is that it doesn’t really matter what the skin color of these entertainers was.

Can’t Tell the Difference

Second, how come the kids noticed that only one of them wasn’t really the princess she was playing? Maybe kids really don’t see color — selectively.

Red Riding Snow White

Almost anyone who menstruates has a story about that awkward time when they got up and found an unfortunate stain on their pants, and the mad rush to the bathrooms to try and clean up. It’s annoying, but it happens.

Red Riding Snow White

But, having it happen during a party, with all those little eyes on you, must have made it so much worse. It’s a good thing poor Snow White had a change of clothes, which definitely came in handy.

Your Circus, Your Monkeys

Kids can be a little savage sometimes — or most of the time, depending on who they are. The same can also be said about their parents, as they’re the ones kids learn from.

Your Circus, Your Monkeys

If a parent tries to cut the line just because they “need to leave,” it’s no wonder their kids lack manners. Kids learn by example, so just think carefully about how you act when you’re around them.

Chubby Ariel

Body-shaming is absolutely unacceptable. However, sometimes kids do it without actually being aware of how hurtful they’re being. While it seems like this entertainer wasn’t even supposed to be wearing this costume, it still looks like she took it reasonably well — despite the boldness of the little girl’s question.

Chubby Ariel

You can’t really blame the kid for just pointing out what she thought was a fact. Yes, in the Disney movie, Ariel was skinny. But, it doesn’t matter because everyone is beautiful regardless of their size.

Capeless Heroes

Not all heroes wear capes, especially those that work with kids. So, it’s no wonder that “Ariel” was the one who probably helped change this kid’s life. Sometimes, kids will confide in strangers about unpleasant things that are taking place in their lives, especially if these strangers happen to represent characters from their favorite movies.

Capless Heroes

In this case, this entertainer did the right thing by telling the school principal about what they heard. No child should suffer, ever.

Who’s Afraid of Clowns?

This could be just a myth created by adults, but who said that kids actually like clowns? Even we as adults find them pretty scary. So, we aren’t surprised to hear that instead of hanging out with this clown entertainer, the little girl ran and hid under the table.

Who’s Afraid of Clowns?

We would’ve probably done the same if we were in her shoes. In fact, fear of clowns is medically recognized as a phobia, called coulrophobia. We don’t have anything against clowns — it’s just that we’ve seen too many movies featuring clowns doing evil things.

Barefoot Cinderella

We don’t know if this was planned but even if it wasn’t, it looks like sometimes fiction does overlap with reality. This was also probably extremely embarrassing for this entertainer. Anyway, how can you forget your shoes?

Barefoot Cinderella

Did she feel there was something missing? Even if it was part of the story, Cinderella did get her other shoe back. In this case, she spent the whole outdoor party barefooted. We wonder if Prince Charming ended up finding them for her.
