If you’ve ever seen the Matrix, you know that the term “déjà vu” is a glitch in the Matrix when the Agents change something. Although we may not live in this simulation world, every so often we experience the “Matrix glitch” ourselves. You know, when you see two people that are not only dressed the same way but they also look exactly alike, which can be pretty mind-bending. That’s why we’ve put together a list of real-life “Matrix glitches” that will have you feeling as overwhelmed as Neo felt when he found out his whole life was basically a lie.
Out Like a Light
Come on — you’d be lying if you told us you didn’t have to do a double-take just now. It’s not uncommon to fall asleep on the train, especially after a long day of work, but it’s pretty surprising to see two men who look almost identical conked out in the same position.
Aside from the fact that their heads are tilted in the same direction, they also share other similar facial features. The third napper doesn’t have the same resemblance but he definitely knows how to catch a few z’s like the other two.
Horton Hears a Who
Horton hears a…wait — who’s who? Okay, either these two ladies know each other and planned out their matching outfits or this is a good ‘ole case of a “Matrix glitch.” From the looks of that male employee, though, he’s as confused as we are. How are we even supposed to tell these women apart?
From the calf-length capri pants to the short-sleeve pink shirts to the short bob haircuts, we think it’s safe to say that this duo couldn’t have nailed this “déjà vu” moment any better…
If we didn’t know any better, we’d say this is the same guy but alas, it is not. They literally have the same face, though — everything from their eyebrows to the shape and size of their eyes to their beard, and they even have the same glasses!
We also can’t forget to mention the fact that the man posing next to the advertisement got the facial expression down to a tee. Is this simply a coincidence or is it yet another case of a glitch in the Matrix?
“Found a Glitch in the Matrix”
Instagram user @alicrosswell was traveling around China when he “found a glitch in the Matrix” at the train station. Either that or this is actually just a group of people that decided to buy matching jackets.
Who knows — maybe they were on sale! If these people are traveling together, at least they won’t have to worry about losing track of anyone because all they have to do is look for a puffy, army-green winter coat. In any event, it’s gotta be pretty trippy seeing so much of the same thing.
“I Met My Doppelgänger Today!”
Reddit user u/littletucks may have written that he “met my doppelgänger today” but we’re convinced that these two guys are actually twins. Not only do they have the same glasses and overall facial structure but their hair color is almost exactly the same! Either this is a serious “déjà vu” moment or this duo is related somehow in some way.
Whatever the case may be, though, we can’t ignore the fact that both of their beards are on point — beard game strong!
One Major Double-Take
This photo is proof that a “Matrix glitch” could happen anywhere at any time. It’s unlikely that these two guys had gone shopping together to buy matching outfits yet they have the same haircut, blue button-down shirt, slacks, shoes, backpack — they probably have an identical face, too.
If that’s the case, the fella walking into the bathroom is about to do one major double-take. We’re honestly starting to believe these glitches are no coincidence. Maybe Morpheus was onto something…
“Were You Looking at the Woman in the Red Dress?”
It’s not every day that you find your twin when you’re out and about. We’re not sure what the look-alike is shouting in the background but when Reddit user u/elvegu “found my sister’s doppelgänger at the Coldplay concert in Gothenburg,” she couldn’t help but take a picture of the Matrix moment.
Sure, they’re wearing the same rain jacket and sunglasses but what’s even more mind-boggling is just how identical they look. In fact, we had to do the same double-take that Neo did when he spotted in the woman in the red dress…
Twinning in the Streets of NYC
@syrakate “witnessed my very own #glitchinthematrix” when she saw these two matching women walking the streets of New York City. Perhaps they’re twins who never grew out of their “they have matching everything” phase from when they were kids. Or maybe, just maybe this is actually a glitch.
Forget the fact that these ladies are wearing the same dress and similar wedge heels. Take notice that they not only have a similar posture and walk but they also share the same hair color and texture, as well as haircut. Hmmm, coincidence? We think not.
At first glance, both of these guys look equally confused. It’s as if they just spotted…well, themselves. Whether or not this is just another Matrix glitch, the man pictured in front apparently “traveled all the way to Thailand to randomly find his doppelgänger,” according to a friend. Can you imagine flying halfway across the world to run into someone who looks exactly like you?
That’s gotta be weird. It really is no wonder why these two dudes look completely bewildered.
Oh, ya know — Jim and Joe are out for a day of fun and their first stop is Barnes and Noble! They threw on their matching attire and headed over to the bookstore for some light reading, or perhaps there’s a mistake in the system.
After all, Reddit user u/WhippleGT seems to “think I found a glitch in the Matrix.” Either way, there’s no doubt that you’d have to look twice if you spotted these two in a store.
“When you stumble upon your classmate’s side modeling gig,” you gotta take a picture. Okay, so maybe the guy in the Internet ad is covering his face but that was probably planned. The fact is, he just doesn’t want to be recognized in his everyday life, which could explain why the real-life ad man is bashfully looking away from the camera as his friend snaps a photo of him.
“Matrix glitch” or not, this little job had to have helped this student pay his way through college.
Red Pill or Blue Pill
When you see something like this while you’re “drinking a flat white, you start “wondering if I should have taken the red pill or the blue pill.” At least that’s what Instagram user @the_thinking_mans_crumpet” thought when she spotted this identical duo at a Starbucks in Hammersmith, London.
It’s understandable, too. When you find a mistake in the system like this one, you can’t help but ask yourself if you want to be set free or if ignorance actually is bliss…
Maybe these three women planned out their outfits or perhaps it’s just another glitch in the Matrix. Come to think of it, we’ve been seeing a lot of mistakes in the system. But really, who’s surprised? After all, it is a technological simulation and we all know how wonky technology can get.
In any event, Reddit user u/baldy27 spotted this trio on a day out to the promenade and decide to snap a photo because he got the feeling that something’s just not right…
“Meanwhile, in the Matrix,” the same woman has been spotted multiple times at a cafe. In reality, though, what are these three actually discussing? Maybe they’re talking about the fact that Carol didn’t get the turtleneck memo or perhaps they’re trying to figure out how to beat the system and finally free themselves of the prison they’ve been living in their whole lives.
We mean, this ain’t no coffee talk. They clearly look like they’re talking about something serious…
“My Name’s Chad”
We can’t help but question whether this is a “glitch in the Matrix or just rush week for Chads everywhere.” The poster, u/GW_BushDid911, seems to be having the same thought. While he may be onto something, the longer we look at the photo, it hardly looks like a mistake in the system.
We hate to burst your bubble but this is just a classic case of ‘frat guy invasion.’ The starter pack clearly includes a pair of khaki pants, boat shoes or sneakers, a thin long-sleeve sweater, oh and your name has to be Chad.
How is this even happening? Reddit user u/ShawnBoo found this “glitch in the Matrix… Err… Vegas…” and according to this post, what happens in Vegas clearly doesn’t stay in Vegas. Still, these ladies are dressed and look eerily similar — from the dark, short hair to their skin-tight camouflage dress to their half-sleeve tattoo to their thigh tattoo to how they’re sitting to even how they’re talking on the phone! This can’t just be some coincidence.
There’s clearly something more to the story…
Someone Got Tired
While this may be “impressive” to some, one person seems to think that “the robot who designed this part of the Matrix was too tired, so he/she just copy-pasted the passengers.” That pretty much sums it up, yeah. Seven blondes in beige trench coats can’t just be some sort of coincidence.
Without a shadow of a doubt, Neo would totally freak out if he walked onto the bus only to find a glitch like this. Someone’s gotta notice…
Happy, Sleepy, Grumpy
Similar to Neo’s “déjà vu” moment when he spotted a black cat and its double walking nonchalantly behind it, someone in a senior-living home had to do a double-take when they saw three of the same women. If we didn’t know any better, we’d say that a glitch occurred in the system.
But while all three women are wearing the same outfit, it seems as though they all have different personalities — happy, sleepy, and grumpy. That’s what kind of gave it away…
Agents on a Mission
Look at these Agents trying to sit casually on the bus like they’re not up to something shady. We know the truth, though. They’re clearly on their way to find Neo, Morpheus, and the whole bunch. What gives it away? Well, their whole look — everything from their physical features to their clothes.
The only thing that their outfits are missing is those FBI-looking shades that they usually wear around. Either way, the rebels better watch their backs.
Too Focused to Notice
Do you think these guys have noticed that they look exactly alike? Maybe they’re both texting the Oracle asking her how she knew they’d find each other in that moment. No way — this can’t be another “Matrix glitch.” They’ve gotta be twins. No one stands that close to each other and fails to notice that they’re one person.
Well, maybe they do if they get sucked into their phones like these two did. Technology is definitely the bane of our existence…
A Disney Adventure
Yet another glitch in this simulated world when Reddit user u/IAmG93 “found my doppelgänger last weekend at Disney’s California Adventure!” From the baseball cap to the glasses to the black t-shirt to the cargo pants, these two men couldn’t have matched any better.
That little girl is honestly so confused as to which guy is her father that she had to look up and think about it for a second. Hopefully, she figures it out before the line starts moving…
Imitation is the Highest Form of Flattery
Why the long face, Max? Now there’s of two more of you so triple the work gets done! Are you upset that they decided to wear matching stripe shirts, like you? Yeah, we can understand but try to think of it this way — imitation is the highest form of flattery.
Plus, this is the least of your problems. There was clearly a mess-up in the system and now you’re having a double “déjà vu” moment as a result…
This photo is proof that you shouldn’t trust anyone…not even yourself. Not only do they have matching t-shirts but they’re walking in the same exact stance. Actually…now that we’re looking at this picture again, this could easily be a father and son out for a morning stroll.
Maybe Instagram user @sherlockrichter believes he’s actually living in the same simulation as Neo and spotted a #glitchinthematrix, according to his Instagram caption at least. In any event, he’s probably a little freaked out.
Cracking the System
“Okay, quick! Let’s split up. You stand in the check-out while I go grab the milk and yogurt.” That’s honestly what this photo says to us and if we’re being honest, that would be one great way to crack the system. At least that way you’re getting something out of it.
If there’s two of you, you might as well make the most out of it! If that means getting all the grocery shopping done in half the time, so be it!
There’s four of them and they’re multiplying every second! Quick — run away before these “college girls” capture you and hand you over to the Agents! Okay, fine. Maybe we’ve been watching too many films from the Matrix franchise. We know we’re getting a little paranoid.
What this is, really, is simply just some basic uni girls that shop at the same store. If this is an American university, we can almost guarantee that these ladies bought their jackets from Forever 21.
